Celebrating a new centre of expertise in finance
“This is great news,” says Finance Innovation’s chief executive Atle Sivertsen. “Now we can drive up the speed of innovation in the finance industry both nationally and internationally.”
“Norwegians are quick to use new technology, but so far we haven’t been experts at exporting technology internationally”. Going forwards, the centre’s focus will therefore be on sharing Norwegian fintech products with the rest of the world.
The newly‑titled NCE Finance Innovation will play an important role as one of Norway’s national centres for innovation and growth, with the important task of encouraging innovation within fintech.
Global ambitions
Jan Erik Kjerpeseth, the Chair of NCE Finance Innovation, sees many possibilities for Norway’s financial technology sector in future. He believes that through closer partnerships, businesses in the NCE Finance Innovation cluster will be better equipped to face up against the big global players.
“From the beginning, we’ve been focused on strengthening local cooperation, and now we have the possibility to take this cooperation to the next level,” says Kjerpeseth.
“This is a big recognition of the cluster initiative, which has its origins in Bergen’s strong finance environment,” adds Espen Opedal, an NCE Finance Innovation board member and the Director of Tryg Norway.
A big congratulations to the new NCE Finance Innovation!
